Community First changes lives by providing significant home repairs for low and moderate income families in Milwaukee’s central city.

Community First’s mission is to improve the quality of life for Milwaukee’s families and their neighborhoods by developing quality, safe, and affordable housing opportunities for individuals and families, while promoting self-sufficiency and neighborhood revitalization. We accomplish our mission by partnering with community members and partner organizations to provide critical home repairs and various long term, wrap-around support services, such as ongoing financial literacy and home maintenance training.

Community First (CF) offers vital services to the neighborhoods that it serves by managing the rehabilitation projects to ensure that families are provided professional, insured, licensed and timely contractor services. Our primary funding is from City of Milwaukee block grants through NIP (Neighborhood Improvement Program) allowing these services to be provided at no cost to the family. It is administered as a five year forgivable loan. There are very few home repair resources in Milwaukee that provide substantial repairs such as roofing, mechanical work, lead abatement and other costly home repairs. This makes CF well positioned to provide such life altering services for its clients.
