Martin Luther King Economic Development Corp.
Description
As leaders of the community, our Board of Directors are determined to provide a better Milwaukee experience for the residents and business owners who live and operate in the MLK Village.
MLKEDC is a community resource, developer, connector, and organizer. Our root mission is to transform the urban landscape of the historic MLK Village by restoring a culture of confidence into the neighborhoods we love & live.
We've Been Operating for over 25 years in which we've Invested over 66 million dollars, devolving over 190 units.
The Martin Luther King Economic Development Corporation (MLKEDC) has nurtured residential and commercial health of the local community for over 20 years by pulling together the historical neighborhoods of Harambee, Bronzeville, Halyard Park, Brewer’s Hill, and Riverwest (collectively known as the MLK Village). Each of these neighborhoods hold a unique history but they all face similar challenges when it comes to growing their communities. MLKEDC cultivates a community-minded approach to the development of the urban landscapes we share. What began as a vision to renovate MLK Drive (between Locust and Center streets), has blossomed into an ongoing, multi-neighborhood revitalization project. MLKEDC upgrades the living conditions for low-and moderate-income households by developing affordable housing and constructing commercial and office facilities built to serve the MLK Village neighborhoods.
