leadership

RID is a growing volunteer-run organization that intentionally seeks leadership that reflects Milwaukee’s diversity (race, gender, LGBTQ, disability, etc), while prioritizing leadership by people of color. It is governed by a Board of Directors, which directs decision-making and programs, while details are decided on a subcommittee basis, all under the advisement of community contacts, the public, and the Accountability Committee. Board decisions are made with the input of community members who attend Board meetings, which are open to the public.

RID’s work is guided by its Strategic Plan, which provides structure that is sustainable, agile, and flexible to best meet the changing needs of the community.

RID engages in continual succession planning/mentorship, particularly of those from affected communities, to produce leaders for RID and the community at large.

RID is accountable to people of color, and actively recruits people of color (non-RID members) from affected communities to serve on an Accountability Committee to ensure RID works on the needs of those they represent.
