The mission of Neighborhood House of Milwaukee is to build a strong community by strengthening individuals, families, and the neighborhood.
Founded in 1945 as a safe and nurturing place for urban youth, families and seniors, Neighborhood House has grown into a modern, 60,000 square-foot facility that has served more than a third million children and adults. Today NH serves over 2,000 people annually and provides accredited child care, pre-school, programs for kids, teens, families, refugees, and elders.
Neighborhood House empowers children, families and individuals to move beyond the barriers of poverty, gain self-sufficiency and realize their full potential.
Neighborhood House goals align with major community initiatives aimed at helping people of all ages combat the devastating effects of poverty, including: 1.) Educational preparedness; 2) Academic engagement and achievement; 3) Access to post-secondary opportunities; and 4.) Family engagement in the educational process.
