America’s Black Holocaust Museum
Description
America's Black Holocaust Museum educates the public about the ongoing injustices endured by people of African heritage in America and provides visitors with opportunities to rethink their assumptions about race and racism.
We carry out our mission by
- Contributing to the body of knowledge about the Black Holocaust,
- Paying respects to the victims and honoring the heroes,
- Widening and deepening the public’s understanding of race, intergroup relations, redemption and reconciliation,
- Providing learning opportunities for young and old in a thought-provoking, nuanced and supportive environment, and
- Promoting the highest ideals of American democracy.
America's Black Holocaust Museum was founded in Milwaukee WI in 1984 by James Cameron, the only known survivor of a lynching.
